Hypnotherapy
When carried out by a professional and skilled hypnotherapist, the benefits  can be amazing, and life-changing.
Using hypnosis we can cross the bridge from the conscious to the unconscious mind.  All our memories are stored there, where they continue to have an important effect on our daily lives.  Happily, most of the information we have learned and stored is beneficial. Sometimes, however, we pick up emotional problems or bad habits ... perhaps through repetition or trauma, which our inner mind then retains. Hypnotherapy is an excellent way to communicate with the inner mind and an experienced hypnotherapist can help you to identify and accept long lasting, often permanent, changes to unhelpful thoughts feelings and behaviour.

The great thing about hypnosis is that it's natural and safe, with no harmful side effects.

Common Misconceptions regarding Hypnosis

1.  Hypnosis is a deep sleep.  Actually hypnosis is simply that comfortable feeling when you are deeply relaxed.  Much like when you are not quite asleep yet but you are not fully awake either.
2.        You will not remember what the Hypnotherapist says to you.  Your unconscious mind will remember anything that is important for you to remember.  Just as you pick out memorable parts of an ordinary conversation, you will remember important parts of your therapy.  Your unconscious mind absorbs the positive, beneficial suggestions and information, which is how the therapy works.
3.        During Hypnosis, the therapist can control you. No one can be hypnotised against their will, that's a fact. Similarly, no one can reveal personal details in hypnosis that they would rather be kept secret, and can return to a normal state of alertness at will. In fact, you have taken control by choosing hypnotherapy to help you achieve your goals.  Clinical Hypnosis helps you achieve and maintain control... that is the purpose of the therapy.
4.        Some people are never the same again after being hypnotised.  Yes, and that is the aim!  Hypnotherapy is all about working as a team with the therapist  to facilitate changes within yourself that you want to achieve, and that you are ready to achieve.  These are bound to be positive changes that work in your best interest.
5.        Other forms of therapy require extended amounts of sessions.  Is this true of hypnotherapy?  The aim with hypnotherapy is to encourage positive changes quickly.  We always try to keep session numbers to a minimum and to aim to equip you with the skills to continue therapy at home. Some of these skills are life-long , like self hypnosis.
6.        Hypnotherapy can have a harmful effect.  The hypnotic state is natural and we all enter it easily and safely several times each day... when we are daydreaming, when we are engrossed in a film or a book... when we are resting... driving... etc. Hypnotherapy simply enables our minds to understand and accept the answers to questions we have, and gain the self-confidence to make positive changes.
7.  What are the chances of success with hypnotherapy?  Clinical Hypnotherapy means using hypnosis to treat a variety of medical and psychological problems. It does not usually deal with problems that have an organic origin, but those that are due to emotional and psychological sources. It is estimated that 85% of people will readily respond to clinical hypnotherapy, and it may even succeed where other, more conventional methods of treatment have been slow to produce the desired results.
